Stripping and Waxing your VCT Floor
Vinyl Composition Tile is a common type of flooring used all across America. Every year or so, you’re going to need to get your VCT floor stripped and waxed. Don’t worry; this is an ordinary step in the lifecycle of your floor.
Over time, the finish on your floor will get dirt ground into it. To combat this, the 4-layer system was developed. We apply 4 levels of finish, and with regular maintenance, you can keep the dirt within the top layers, and then just do a regular scrub and light finish.
Eventually, the floor will go past the point of no return, and you will need to get it stripped and waxed. Not to worry though, we can do a full VCT floor stripping fast and efficiently for you.
Here are the 2 steps for a standard strip and wax:
1. Floor Stripping: First, we go over the floor with our propane stripper or low powered rpm buffer, and we apply a special solution to completely remove all layers of the old floor finish.
2. Floor Waxing: After the floor stripping has been completed, we will apply 4 fresh layers of floor finish.
Once you have a clean new floor, try to protect it. You can remove 75% of the dirt that the floor would accumulate simply by placing mats at all the entrances and exits to your building. It’s also a good idea to mop the floor every day or two to remove any of the dirt that may be lying on the floor.
